The revised Top 10 Largest Software Companies in the World in 2019 are shown below. It is purely dependent on software revenues earned by a corporation, either directly or through its subsidiaries.

Microsoft

Microsoft is the software industry’s nonplus-ultra, with a revenue of $103.3 billion. Co-founders Paul Allen and Bill Gates launched the firm in 1975. The American software behemoth, which was founded in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is now headquartered in Redmond, Washington. Microsoft has a wide range of software for a variety of uses. The operating system software ‘Windows,’ which powers about a billion computers worldwide, is the company’s best-known and most famous franchise product. It is the most widely used operating system on the planet.

Aside from Windows, Microsoft’s ‘Office’ series provides the world’s most popular and widely used productivity software. And these are just the most well-known Windows applications.

Oracle

Oracle is the world’s second-largest software firm. The American firm, headquartered in Redwood City, California, in the heart of Silicon Valley, is the world’s biggest provider of Enterprise software and Software as a Service (SaaS). Co-founders Larry Ellison, Bob Miner, and Ed Oates formed the firm in 1977. Last year, Oracle generated $32.9 billion in worldwide revenue. Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Human Capital Management (HCM), and Supply Chain Management are the main areas where Oracle software is employed (SCM).

SAP

SAP (“Systems, Applications & Products”) is one of just two non-American corporations in the Top 10 software companies. The German corporation is the third-largest software company in the world and the largest in Europe, with revenue of $27.4 billion last year. Five former IBM engineers from Germany launched the firm in 1972. Its current headquarters are in Walldorf, Baden-Wuerttemberg, in southwestern Germany. The company specializes in Enterprise software and provides Software as a Service (SaaS) to its global customers. SAP is well recognized for its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, for which the German firm is the market leader worldwide.

Salesforce.com

Salesforce.com is the world’s fourth-largest software firm. Four former Oracle executives launched the firm in 1999. Salesforce.com is a San Francisco, California-based American firm. In 2018, the corporation generated $10.5 billion in revenue. Salesforce is the global leader in enterprise software, particularly in the area of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software.

Broadcom

Broadcom is best known for being a renowned semiconductor maker. The American firm situated in Irvine, California is also involved in the software market through its two subsidiaries CA Technologies and NortonLifeLock (formerly known as Symantec). CA Technologies specializes in enterprise software, while NortonLifeLock is a security software leader. Broadcom also provides Infrastructure software. Broadcom has risen to become one of the world’s top five software companies as a result of its diverse software offerings. Last year, the company’s worldwide software sales were $9.1 billion.

Adobe Systems

Adobe Systems is a software company that specializes in graphic design, web design, and video editing. In each of these product sectors, it is the world’s leading developer. The graphics editing software series Photoshop is likely the most well-known product of the San Jose, California-based firm.

Dell Technologies

Fiserv
Fiserv rounds out the Top 10 list of the world’s largest software businesses. The company, which is situated in Wisconsin, creates financial software. Fiserv’s clients are mostly banks, security brokerages, and credit unions, but they also include companies, small enterprises, and other organizations.
